Why shouldnt it be? Women hitting other women is acceptable. Men hitting men is also acceptable. Blah.
If a guy hits his girl, the girl should fucking suckerpunch the guy and give him a german suplex. It's about not letting you stepped on. Vice-versa. Fuck society and its standards.
