Are guys with guitars qualified to win AMERICAN IDOL?
Phillip Phillips was named as American Idol 2012 winner during the live finale held Thursday night, May 23, at the Nokia Theatre in LA.
The winners of American Idol were guys with guitars ever since Season 7. 
David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery and now Phil Phillips. I guess American Idol has its own trend. 
Shocking the world, Phillip Phillips won against 16 year old Filipina-Mexican-American, Jessica Sanchez. It shocked many Filipnos around the world. Don't worry, it doesn't mean you have to win to get a record deal .gif)

PP's win is kind of expected already anyway. Americans are just more fond of white guys with guitar, that's all. It's just that Filipinos are so overreacting only because a Half Filipina reached the finals.

This was no shock to anyone in the USA...everyone had picked PP has the man to beat from the beginning...this was also the lowest rated American Idol ever...it lost over 30% of the viewers from last year

It's being proud for your fellow countryman 
Don't worry, being proud is not compulsory in this country... 
Yeah, it's funny to think that there is a pattern or similarities on the past Idol winners... but American Idol is truly depends on votes and I can say that Phillip Phillips deserves it, honestly anyone of them deserves the title because they all went on the same process. They both went for an audition, they both qualified for the Top 10 and now they're on the finale... they really deserved everything they can get from it..

I just don't think "overreacting" is the best word to label it... Of course they're celebrating for it because it's a new feat for us Filipinos, it's like Pacquiao, winning those 8 titles in 8 division... just like that...

Yeah it is... really... Popularity show... That's why the title is "American [b]Idol[/b]" Idol means being famous or many people likes what your doing... 
Of course they're celebrating for it because it's a new feat for us Filipinos, it's like Pacquiao, winning those 8 titles in 8 division... just like that...

Okay, maybe "over exaggerating" is the right term for that. But still, I find it very annoying.

I really wanted Jessica to win, but I'm not that disappointed because Philip Philips really deserves it IMO. His last performance was really awesome. He's a LOT better than the last year's winner.

lol, AI gathered a lot of money with the two of them.
But, I think Phillip really deserves the title. He's really good. I liked his style from the first time I heard him on his audition. He has his own way and originality on the way he sings. Don't get me wrong. I'm proud of Jessica. But, I agree with the judges. Jessica didn't quite justified some songs. While Phillip did better on it.
