Although actor Ian Somerhalder has been widely considered the most popular fan favorite to be cast as Christian Grey in the bestselling “Fifty Shades of Grey” film adaptation by E.L. James, it seems that Ryan Gosling is in the lead for the part as of now, according to recent studio sources.
In breaking “Fifty Shades” movie news, it was reported this Tuesday morning by “Entertainmentwise” that Ryan Gosling of “The Notebook” is now first in line for the role. The reports this week have gone so far as to say that the casting part is “his role to turn down,” which leaves the question as to whether the film set is closer to finding its Christian Grey.
In a recent movie poll, the overwhelming tallies revealed that Ian Somerhalder easily stole the top spot for the part of Christian Grey. However, with the immense success, breaking sales records and controversial reviews of E.L. James’ “Fifty Shades of Grey”, it seems that other actors are also in the midst of some hot and heavy contention for the anticipated role.
According to a new release from “Entertainmentwise” this Tuesday, actor Ryan Gosling—who was voted last year in 2011 as the world’s sexiest man—has been tipped to possibly be cast as the handsome billionaire in the racy story of a dark but passionate relationship between college graduate Anastasia Steele and Christian himself.
“The Sun” recently quoted, “The role of the sadomasochistic [SM] billionaire looks to be the man-of-the-moment actor Ryan Gosling’s [casting role] to turn down. But the star from “Drive” may take some persuading for the part.”
Gosling, was critically acclaimed for his part in “Drive” (though not earning an Oscar nomination), and will begin a new movie project this year starring a cast that includes Cate Blanchett and Christian Bale after finishing the shooting of “Only God Forgives.”
Even with this supposed new support from Ryan Gosling in "Fifty Shades of Grey," one would do well to not bet all their whips and chains away on Ian Somerhalder just yet. The star in the “Vampire Diaries” has expressed a real interest in playing the part of Christian Grey, and was still called a “likely candidate.”
Henry Cavill of the “Tudors” is another actor that (in addition to doing well in the fan popularity polls) was described by “Entertainmentwise” and “The Sun” as “another bet … the British star [Cavill] may become a household name with the release of his new role as Superman in next year’s film franchise.”
Still other actors, from Matt Bomer and Alexander Skarsgard to Scott Elrod, still also have a shot for the steamy part of Anastasia's object of lust and love as well.
While many actors have been mentioned as to who will play Christian Grey, the casting role of Anastasia Steele is a bit less clear. The actress would no doubt have to have on-screen chemistry with the Christian actor while still displaying a balance of attitude, awkwardness, and passion in the theaters (while no doubt being comfortable with some serious sex scenes in the film).
Lucy Hale, Kristen Stewart and Emma Roberts have all been considered or shown some interest to be cast in the movie by Focus Features and Universal Studios, although no confirmed news has been given on possible candidates just yet, so the chance for other actresses to look into the role is likely at this point.
On a personal note, Ian Somerhalder would be the best for the role.
ISN'T HE?
