i guess its advantageous to upgrade smithing since i think smith level is shared through other characters on the account. if you have a shitty blue item you can always smith a better item with random attributes. more often or not there will be 1 or 2 rare items that can be crafted.

i crafted one ago , i don't know though whether or not the rare items that can be created are random.

does drop rate changed on that mode?
