Mine doesn't need an adapter since someone informed me that film lens are still compatible with a digital Nikon SLR. But yes, if you would like to do inter-brand usage like, lenses on another brand's body; and bodies that doesn't have the [i]backward technology[/i], an adapter will really come handy. My friend has one and he told me that this piece of metal is P8K.
