Digital Body + Analog Lens

Many old analog lenses can fit in DSLR cameras with proper adapter (although some lenses have problem with focusing at infinity). In Mirrorless cameras, the compatibility is better (due to the shorter flange focal distance).
The + [li]Most old lenses are cheap[/li] [li]Some are real gems, esp. the primes[/li] The - [li]Things need to be done manually (focus, aperture)[/li]
As far as I know M42 is the most popular lens mount (due to simplicity and a large selection of lenses), with Takumar being one of the most sought after lenses (due to it's good reputation among users). Many German and Russian lenses also come in M42 mount.
Manual lenses are fun to use! 50mm 1:1.4 lenses are my favorite, I think they give the best value for money. Up there in the banner is my current setup (1 kit lens + analog lenses). Have any of you guys tried the digital body + analog lens combination?

@Letsirk My guess it's a Canon FD of FL lens? Usually it has a ring near the base for the lock/unlock mechanism.

Re: Digital Body + Analog Lens

Mine doesn't need an adapter since someone informed me that film lens are still compatible with a digital Nikon SLR. But yes, if you would like to do inter-brand usage like, lenses on another brand's body; and bodies that doesn't have the backward technology, an adapter will really come handy. My friend has one and he told me that this piece of metal is P8K. T_T My first ever prime lens was a film lens that same friend (mentioned above) gave to me:

And some shots using this lens:

The white dots on the front optic.. are those fungus or what? :lol3:
The white dots on the front optic.. are those fungus or what?
:/ They're actually scratches that are very noticeable if you take a closer look on it. That's because my friend told me that this thing is "older" than the two of us ( you have my birthdate there so you can try doing the math hehe) and I don't have a decent lens cap + lens pouch to keep it that "ideally" secured. Hahahaha. Bohoo.
