Pinoy caregiver faces jail for hitting 80-year-old patient

According to the London-based newspaper Daily Mail, Jonathan Aquino admitted to common assault and ill treatment of a vulnerable person after being shown footage from a hidden camera.
The footage showed Aquino striking Maria Worroll, who has Alzheimer's disease, in the face, arms, and abdomen.
According to Alzheimer’s Association, the disease is a form of dementia that affects memory, thinking, and behavior.
At Aquino's sentencing, Judge Henry Blacksell QC was quoted as saying the attacks were a "dreadful breach of trust" since Worroll was put in Ash Court care home in North London so she could be cared for properly instead of being hit.[/quote]

My sister really wanted me to listen to the news or to actually watch the video from the hidden camera. The moment I saw it, I was disgusted and according to my sister, Filipinos around England have a bad reputation already.

I was able to watch the video on the news. At first I didn't believe it,but I guess I had no choice. That caregiver should be definitely punished. What he did is just so evil. I really hope that the English people will see this as a rare case and they won't conclude that all Filipino caregivers or nurses are like this man. Sad but true,things like this happen.

I feel bad for the old lady. 
I don't care if the guy is Filipino is not, he is deserving of the punishment. What he did really affects the reputation of the Filipino caregivers. So sad.

This not the 1st time I read about caregivers hitting old people.
There are a lot of them actually.
I guess to stop this insanity is that agencies or companies should triple check every applicants who's going to apply for them.
I don't care if he's a filipino, he deserves to be punished.
He's a shame. tsk tsk

This made me feel so embarrassed and upset, seeing as I am a caregiver in England myself, and I know that the Filipino's reputation as care workers are the best. You can't help but feel that especially if your British/non-Filipino careworkers starts asking questions about this news and somehow they have that disgusting expression on their faces when they look at you.
The things Jonathan Aquino did are just absolutely unacceptable and if he was to be like that, he should not have become a caregiver (or nurse in the Philippines for that matter) in the first place. I have to suffer being occasionally kicked, bitten, scratched or punched, but that is because I know my dementia residents don't know what they are doing. You have got to be patient in this job and if you can't live with it then you better quit being a damn caregiver.

This is an embarassment to the health care profession.. Lucky him he got an opportunity abroad but he wasted it. This news will surely affect jobs and hiring of filipinos abroad.
