They don't have the intention to make the guy suffer, they just want the courtship because they receive a lot of flowers, chocolates, dates, and like you mentioned, most guys put their best foot only on courtship. What I meant by #2 was, for example okay Girl likes Guy. Guy woos Girl. Girl sees Guy's effort. But Guy has history of third parties or anything of that sort. What is Girl going to do? She already likes the guy, but she's pretending she isn't because she doesn't wanna admit that she likes a guy with that history I think I can already see my defeat.
